Using WireGuard on Windows

This Windows guide explains how to connect to Mullvad’s WireGuard® servers by using the official WireGuard app

Do not run the WireGuard app and the Mullvad VPN app simultaneously on the same device. They are not compatible.

Download the WireGuard app

Download the official WireGuard app for Windows (available in 32- and 64-bit versions) from the Wir®eGuard website and run the installation.


Generate and import configuration file

  1. In a browser, navigate to our WireGuard configuration generator.
  2. Enter your Mullvad account number in the Account number field.
  3. Select Platform Windows
  4. Click on Generate a new key pair. (Generate a separate key pair for each device that you use.)
  5. From the Server drop-down menu, select All
  6. Click on Generate and Download and wait 5–10 seconds for the file to begin downloading.
  7. Open the WireGuard app
  8. Press "Add Tunnel" and select the downloaded file and press Open

Connect and disconnect

  1. Open the WireGuard app.
  2. Select a Server in the list to the left
  3. Press "Activate" to connect, and "Deactivate" to disconnect
  4. You're all set! You can visit to check your connection.

Using multiple devices?

If you're running WireGuard on multiple devices, generate a separate key pair for each device. You will otherwise likely run into connectivity issues.

Is it working?

While on your device, visit to get a quick overview of your Mullvad-WireGuard connection status. In addition, it's a good time to check if your browser is leaking information and therefore jeopardizing your privacy.
