Free the internet with Mullvad Browser

When you visit a website, you can be identified and tracked through your IP address, third-party cookies, all kinds of tracking scripts, and through browser fingerprints. That’s why masking your IP address is not enough to stop the data collection. However, by using a trustworthy VPN in combination with a privacy-focused browser, you can put up a better resistance against the mass surveillance of today. That's why we partnered with the Tor Project to develop Mullvad Browser – a browser designed to minimize tracking and fingerprints.

What is a privacy-focused browser?

A VPN is not enough for privacy

Big tech, authorities, and data brokers use cookies, scripts, browser fingerprints and other third-party methods to identify and track you online. That’s why a VPN is not enough for privacy and why you also need a privacy-focused browser.

Your browser can be used to identify you

Some browsers are made to map your internet behavior. That’s their business model. Others just don’t have enough privacy protection. If you want to combat data collection you need to use a browser designed to minimize tracking and fingerprints.

All together as one

Our philosophy is that there’s only one way to reduce the absurd personal data collection of today, and it’s a classic: hide in the crowd. Therefore, Mullvad Browser has been developed with the purpose and ambition for all its users to appear as one

Developed together with Tor

Mullvad Browser is developed together with the Tor Project. You could say that Mullvad Browser is a Tor Browser without the Tor Network. Instead you can use the Mullvad Browser with (or without) a VPN.

Minimize tracking and fingerprinting

Block trackers

Mullvad Browser uses uBlock Origin to block third-party trackers. Nothing more, as more attempts to block trackers ironically can reveal your identity.

Combat fingerprinting

We use different techniques to give similar fingerprints to all users. Read more about letterboxing and the other methods.

Won’t feed the cookie monster

Private mode is enabled by default and no cookies are saved between your sessions. Third-party cookies are also being isolated in specific cookie jars during your session.

Free of charge – with or without a VPN

Mullvad Browser is open-source and free of charge, whether or not you are a Mullvad VPN user. You can use it with a trustworthy VPN, or without.

No telemetry

Telemetry is data being collected by the browser to improve its performance. We don’t believe on collecting data and has therefore removed telemetry.

Developed together with Tor

Mullvad Browser is developed with the experts on privacy-focused browsers: the Tor Project. It’s a browser with the standards of Tor, to use with a VPN.

Yes, but if you don't use a trustworthy VPN in combination with the Mullvad Browser your IP address won't be masked.
