Mullvad on Android / Chromebook devices

Other VPN software OpenVPN Android Mobile Installation

Senast uppdaterad:

Mullvad works on Android phones, tablets and on Chromebooks with access to the Google Play Store app.

You can use one of these options:

  1. Use the Mullvad VPN app.
  2. Use the WireGuard app.

Chromebooks

There is a known problem with some Chromebooks when using one of the two options above - the Internet may stop working after the lid is closed or after it goes to sleep. If you have that problem then check this third option.

Some Chromebooks have basic built-in support for the WireGuard protocol. To use it, follow these instructions.

  1. Log in to the Mullvad website and download a WireGuard configuration file.
  2. In ChromeOS at the bottom right, select the time.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. In the "Network" section, select Add connection.
  5. Next to "OpenVPN / L2TP", select Add (note: we support neither OpenVPN nor L2TP).
  6. In the box that opens, fill in the following info:

Service name: MullvadVPN (or write the name of the country, city or server that you will connect to).
Provider type: WireGuard
Client IP address: Use the "Address" from your WireGuard configuration file, for example 10.64.64.64. Do not include "/32".
Name servers: 10.64.0.1
Key: Use current keypair

Peer:
Public key: use the "PublicKey" from the WireGuard configuration file.
Pre-shared key: Leave this empty.
Endpoint: use the "Endpoint" from the WireGuard configuration file.
Allowed IPs: copy "AllowedIPs"  from the WireGuard configuration file.
Persistent keepalive interval: 25

Interface:
Private key: Use the "PrivateKey" from the WireGuard configuration file.

Then select Connect.
