Installing Mullvad client in Linux

Ubuntu 16.04 / Debian

  1. Download and save the latest Mullvad .deb package  (default saved to ~/Downloads/)
  2. Open up a terminal and run "sudo apt-get update"
  3. Issue "sudo apt-get install gdebi-core" in the terminal
  4. "cd Downloads" (or where you saved the mullvad*.deb file)
  5. Issue "sudo gdebi mullvad_61-1_all.deb" if the download file was version 61. Replace 61 with the version number if you have downloaded a newer one.


Fedora 23/24

Issue the following commands in a terminal.

sudo dnf install python-appdirs python-ipaddr python-netifaces python-psutil wxPython
wget --trust-server-names
sudo pip install mullvad-60.tar.gz
tar -zvxf mullvad-60.tar.gz && sudo cp mullvad-60/src/mullvad/update-resolv-conf /etc/openvpn/
sudo chmod 755 /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf


Linux mint Debian Edition 1 (1403 mate)

  1. Issue the following commands: "sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade"
  2. "sudo apt-get install python-pip python-wxgtk2.8 python-ipaddr python-psutil python-netifaces openvpn"
  3. "sudo pip install appdirs"
  4. "wget --trust-server-names"
  5. "sudo pip install mullvad-60.tar.gz"
  6.  Start with either "mullvad" or click on the mullvad icon.

Linux Elementary Freya

  1. sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
  2. sudo apt-get install openvpn python-dev python-wxgtk2.8 python-pip
  3. sudo pip install appdirs psutil ipaddr netifaces
  4. wget --trust-server-names
  5. sudo pip install mullvad-60.tar.gz
  6.  Start with either "mullvad" or click on the mullvad icon.
